Thank you from you winner – Sinead!

Hi all! I’d like to start by thanking the students, teachers and organisers of I’m a Scientist- I had a really great time participating in the event and it was all thanks to you! For two weeks, I’m a Scientist took over my life. In a good way. I didn’t realise at the time I signed up just how much I would be waiting in expectation of the next chat, or for new questions to appear in the ASK section. Talking about science with you guys, on your terms and with your questions, was enjoyable and an honour. Being able to share my love of science with you filled me with a sense of pride and really reminded me what science is for: to learn and to pass on your knowledge. Get ready for I’m a Scientist!

I’m a Scientist starts on Monday, two weeks stuffed with creative questioning, exciting live chats and tenser-than-the-X-Factor eviction days! Let’s meet the scientists competing for votes in the Drug Synthesis Zone and the schools who’ll be challenging them… The Scientists Sinead Balgobin | PhD Student at The University of Manchester I make molecules of lots of different types- colourful, medical, materials… All using special compounds called “catalysts”, which make my job really easy! Anne Moore | Lecturer at University College Cork We figure out how we can make better vaccines that teach the body’s immune system to seek and destroy invading bugs. Mark Collins | Almac Sciences I work with scientists across the world together to develop new medicine that will help us all.
