Definitely, the career options are varied and fulfilling and there are roles for every personality. It also allows for travel as you can take your career to other countries and are not necessarily bound by language.

Yes, especially in Ireland as we really are an international centre for excellence in Science! There are lots of jobs and it is very fulfilling, I go to work and I work on projects that will be making a difference to people’s lives across the world and this makes me feel good. All my hard work in studying and in my job is making someones life better. It has also afforded me great travelling opportunities and I have travelled to many countries around the world and met some amazing people on my journey! I would highly recommend a career in Science.

Hell yes! First of all, there is no end to scientific research, so there will always be questions for you to research. Second, it’s good for everyone- by being a scientist you can do research that helps other people, either directly, or in smaller ways.

On a more personal level, being a scientist can be really fulfilling, and well paid (not that you should be chasing money). You can travel the world, and work just about anywhere. There are also lots of different types of scientists, so you have a huge selection of jobs you can do- you could be a chemist and make life-changing drugs, a marine biologist and study the unknown depths of our oceans, an astronaut and study plants in space… pretty much anything.
