My favourite science experiment would be when I worked in my last job and they use a new polymer for cleaning water, unfortunately the monomer of that polymer is highly carcinogenic (causes cancer). It is ok when it is part of the polymer chain but if a monomer becomes free of the parent polymer this could be dangerous. I was the first person to have an experiment validated and verified by the UK government in London! It was quite an occasion, I was even invited to sit on a government advisory panel as a result. It was a great experiment and a great outcome in that I got numerous trips to London to work with other great chemists.
