I think there is more potential for solar energy- there are already many organisms that harness the sun’s energy, so it must be a good idea! There are drawbacks to wind farms (e.g. it can be hazardous maintaining offshore wind farms) but I generally agree that they are a good source of clean energy. I think research into more efficient solar cells is progressing more quickly, however, and so we will be able to harness more energy that way.

As Sinead says, I agree that Solar energy has more potential but I also think that off-shore wind farms should be looked into rather than land -based wind farms.
There is a lot of research showing the potential negative health effects of living near wind farms.

In this country we have more wind so I would near that but the technology for solar energy is more advanced. The key to all of our future energy requirements is being able to store it – current batteries are fairly ineffective and there is a lot of research into new types. Another which will be very big in the future is wave power as this will be an excellent resource for us once the technology is ready.
