All drugs have side effects and what is called a therapeutic window, where there is benefit and no toxic effects. Too much of any drug taken or taken for too long will do harm to the body and the doctors directions should be strictly adhered to.

Since all drugs have an effect on your body, in the wrong dose all drugs are harmful (even the paracetamol in your cupboard). The drugs that we have decided are the most dangerous, and have the least beneficial effects are the ones that we make illegal- like ecstasy or cocaine: while they might give you a high, the damage they might do to your body/brain, and their addictiveness make them very harmful indeed.
